Connection Information

SERVICE CONNECTION SPECIFICATIONS

Connection to Curb Stops

To facilitate connections and avoid damage when excavating at the time of installation, there is a 4 meter length of polyetheline pipe extending from each existing curb stop of which there may be four sizes and types depending upon the property location and time of their construction:

*1”       Inside Diameter (Iron Pipe Size) Series 160 or Greater PHILMAC Fitting
*1 ¼”     Outside Diameter (Municipal) Series 160 or Greater Brass Fitting
1 ½”        Outside Diameter (Municipal) Series 160 or Greater Brass Fitting
2”            Outside Diameter (Municipal) Series 160 or Greater Brass Fitting

(* Only found on installations prior to 1992-93)

Do not excavate closer than 4 meters to the curb stop
&
Do not remove “red topped” curb valve marker post

Installation of Service Line

Trench Specifications:

Not less than 8 ½’ deep.

Waterline Specifications: Minimum 1½” Outside Diameter Series 160 Municipal Tubing CSA Approved for Potable Water.
Fittings Specifications: Brass as per the above.

Notify Co-op office at 403-239-6242:

  • Before construction to review compliance with the specifications and timing.
  • After construction while the tie-in is still exposed for final inspection before the trench is back filled.

Compliance with these specifications is required to ensure that Co-op members have reliable and durable treated water service lines from the distribution system. Members are responsible for any repairs their service lines may require
